History of the Building
The Pulverturm was built in 1605/1606 on top of an earlier city tower. Together with Burg Wachtendonk, it is the only surviving part of the former town fortifications. Over the centuries it served various purposes – among them as a grain store, while the cellar was used as the town prison until 1912. Since 2022 the building has been home to the Stanciu family's Italian restaurant.
