Landbäckerei Stinges

The business began in 1852, when Leopold Stinges opened a bakery with an attached tavern in the farming hamlet of Lüttelbracht near Brüggen, at the time part of the independent municipality of Born. The bakery still stands almost exactly where it started, in the middle of the Maas-Schwalm-Nette nature park, and has remained in family hands ever since — currently in the fifth generation.

All shops are supplied from Brüggen-Lüttelbracht. The company describes this focus on its own region as a deliberate choice in favour of freshness and limits its sales area to the left bank of the Lower Rhine. The individual branches vary in setup: some are purely counter service, others work as cafés or bistros with seating.

The bakery produces bread, rolls, pastries and cakes as well as pâtisserie items, complemented by snacks. House specialities include the Landbrötchen rolls, whose dough is given a particularly long proving time according to the company, and butter streusel sheet cakes. Rotating promotions such as monthly offers and a dedicated bread day round out the range.
