The Church
Dedicated to Saint Wendelin, the church was built in 1734 and still belongs to the parish of Eichenbühl today.
Inside, the chancel is dominated by a gilded figure of a saint, flanked by ornamental columns and candle decorations.
History of Schippach
The village of Schippach was first mentioned in 1380 in a written complaint. According to tradition, only a single resident of Schippach survived the Thirty Years' War.
In the 19th century, many inhabitants emigrated to America. In 1976, the municipality of Schippach – together with its districts of Berndiel and Geisenhof – was incorporated into Miltenberg.
More recent milestones of village life include the construction of a festival hall in 2004 and first place in the "Unser Dorf soll schöner werden" (Our Village Should Become More Beautiful) competition in 2006.
Setting and Surroundings
Schippach lies in the south-east of the Miltenberg municipal area, just north of the state border with Baden-Württemberg. To the east and south-east the village is surrounded by meadows and fields, and by forest in the other directions.
The Franconian Marian Way runs through the village, making a visit to the church easy to combine with a hike.
