History
Before the war, the site served as a glider field and emergency landing strip. Flight operations officially began in 1957. Further expansion followed in 1960, when an asphalt runway, several aircraft hangars, a control tower, and a fuel station were added.

The airfield is certified for a wide range of aircraft, including gliders, motor gliders, ultralights, helicopters, and powered aircraft up to 2,000 kilograms. Skydivers also make use of the grounds.

The airfield is a popular departure point for sightseeing flights heading toward the Spessart or over the Odenwald.
