Prestressed-concrete road bridge over the Main near Miltenberg, crowned by a statue of St Martin, opened in 2008.
The Martinsbrücke carries the State Road 2309 across the Main between Miltenberg-Nord and Bürgstadt. It is named after St Martin, whose statue stands above the eastern abutment.

History
The bridge was built in the mid-2000s to relieve the Alte Mainbrücke and Miltenberg's town centre of through traffic. It formed part of a public-private partnership project that rerouted the St 2309 around Miltenberg over a stretch of 4.8 kilometres, also including a 350-metre tunnel and ten further small and medium-sized bridges. The overall bypass project cost around 50 million euros.
St Martin
A statue of the bridge's patron saint, St Martin, stands on a bastion above the eastern abutment; it was blessed at the opening by the Bishop of Würzburg, Friedhelm Hofmann. Martin is the patron of the chapel in Bürgstadt and the town saint of Miltenberg, which depicts him as an enthroned bishop in its historic coat of arms.
Design
The four-span bridge crosses a farm track and the Miltenberg–Wertheim railway line on the right bank, spans the Main with its main opening, and crosses State Road 2310 on the left bank. At roughly a right angle, a 99-metre ramp bridge connects there for traffic from the direction of Freudenberg. Longitudinally the structure is a continuous girder with spans of 75 m, 122.72 m over the river, 94 m and 65 m. Its single-cell box girder cross-section has vertical webs and a haunched depth, measuring 14.0 m wide between the parapets, with a construction depth of 3.15 m at midspan over the river and 6.8 m over the river piers. Longitudinal prestressing combines internal and external tendons. Piers and abutments are clad in red sandstone, complemented by bastions and balustrades above the main piers.
Construction and Foundations
The approach sections were built on falsework, while the section over the river and railway was erected by the free cantilever method. The piers and the eastern abutment rest on bored piles 1.5 metres in diameter and up to 12 metres long.
