Vorster Mühle
Former water mill on the Nette in Wachtendonk's Vorst district, first documented in 1456 and demolished in 1937/38.

History
During an inheritance division within the Bocholtz family in 1456, Katharina von Bocholtz and her husband received, alongside estates in Wankum, the mill "op den Vorst." This mention is the only surviving record from its early period. After the First World War, around 1919, the grain mill was closed, and when the Nette was regulated in 1937/38, the by-then dilapidated mill was demolished.
Location and Surroundings
The mill stood on the Nette, which flows here at an elevation of about 34 metres above sea level. Maintenance of the waterway is the responsibility of the Netteverband, headquartered in Nettetal.
Good to Know
In 2017, the Netteverband had the Kleine Renne, a right-bank tributary of the Nette, renaturalized.
